National Junior Angus Show Draws Thousands to Louisville with an Estimated $2 Million Economic Impact

One of the nation’s largest single-breed junior livestock shows concluded over the weekend at the Kentucky Exposition Center 

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 20, 2026) — The 2026 National Junior Angus Show brought hundreds of young cattle producers and their families from across the country to Louisville last week, generating an estimated $2 million in economic impact.

The event held July 12–18 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, managed by Kentucky Venues, is one of the nation’s largest single-breed junior livestock shows. The week-long event marked the third time Louisville has hosted the show, following events in 2003 and 2019. This year’s show theme, highlighting Kentucky’s unique relationship with another time-tested sport, was “Bases Loaded in the Bluegrass.”

The event supports Team Kentucky’s efforts to showcase the commonwealth as a welcoming destination to visit, work and live. In addition to cattle competitions, the event included leadership development, college scholarships awarded through the Angus Foundation, a trade show and family activities.

“When I talk about the National Junior Angus Show, I always say it’s more than just a cow show. We have 19 different contests throughout the week — from poster contests and team sales to quiz bowl, cook-off, skill-a-thon, and cattle judging. Between our staff and the junior board members in their green jackets, it really takes an army to put it on,” said Caitlyn Brandt, Director of Events and Junior Activities for the event.

Beyond the arena, the show fills area hotels, restaurants, and businesses throughout its run and shines a national spotlight on the agricultural heritage at the heart of Kentucky’s economy and identity.

“Louisville is a great location for the show, and it’s big enough that everything we need is right here. Our exhibitors know the Kentucky Exposition Center well, and there’s a lot of history and tradition here,” said Brandt.

Competitions took place across the Exposition Center’s west event spaces, including Broadbent Arena, the Pavilion and West Hall, culminating with the final drive of the show on Saturday, July 18.
